Artists' Bio

Crisp organic shapes and intense colours dominate Eric's work as he strives for a modern abstract composition that livens up any room. His goal is to create art to be noticed, not to blend with its surroundings.

Eric was born in Ayr, Ontario and has lived there throughout his life. He has been active in art since proclaiming that he wanted to be an artist in kindergarten.

Excelling in art all through his education, Eric won several awards, including the George and Agnes Roy Award for best graduating artist. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Wilfrid Laurier University as well as his Bachelor of Education from Brock University. Two of Eric's sculptures can be seen in the lobby of Wilfrid Laurier University's Library.

A lifelong athlete, Eric has been intensely involved in cycling, baseball, curling, and track and field (pole vault). He has also trained to compete in the National 16+ category of men’s gymnastics for the Burlington BGs.

Much of Eric’s art has been influenced by his involvement in sports, whether directly as with Pure Power and the Gymnast series, or indirectly through his fascination with the human body.

Eric is an art and history teacher at the secondary school level in Brantford, Ontario.  He teaches at Tollgate Technical Skills Centre as well as Pauline Johnson Collegiate and Vocational School.
